This is a biography of the legendary sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, written by his daughter, the renowned sitar player and Grammy nominee Anoushka Shankar. ''Bapi'' is her affectionate name for her father. Published in 2002, the book is organized thematically, with chapters exploring different facets of Ravi Shankar's life: Child, Dancer, Student, Musician, Rockstar, Creator, Achiever, Guru, Man, and Joker. Anoushka writes candidly and sensitively about their relationship, his musical journey, his personal life (including his relationships with his first wife and her mother, Sukanya), and her experience of carrying forward his legacy after his passing. The book is illustrated with photographs and documents from the family's private collection. This is a deeply personal, loving portrait of a musical giant by the person who knew him best: his daughter.
