Allo! Allo! Dennis is going international! Hank Ketcham's beloved menace returns in ''Allo! Allo!,'' a hilarious collection of comic strips that finds Dennis exploring foreign languages and cultures—with predictably chaotic results.

Dennis Mitchell has decided to broaden his horizons. Maybe he's learned a French phrase at school. Perhaps he's seen a foreign film on TV. Or maybe he's just decided that ''Allo!'' sounds more sophisticated than ''Howdy!'' Whatever the inspiration, Dennis's attempts at international relations are guaranteed to end in disaster.

Watch as Dennis tries to greet Mr. Wilson in French—and manages to offend him instead. See him attempt to impress his parents with his knowledge of foreign customs, leading to dinner table chaos. Observe as his innocent attempts to be cosmopolitan confuse neighbors, frustrate teachers, and generally turn the neighborhood upside down.

Mr. Wilson, as always, bears the brunt of Dennis's experiments. A simple ''Bonjour!'' might seem harmless, but in Dennis's hands, it becomes the start of an international incident. His attempts to share his newfound cultural knowledge with Mr. Wilson inevitably end with the grumpy neighbor wishing he'd never left his house.

What makes this collection so enjoyable is its exploration of how children interpret—and misinterpret—the wider world. Dennis's attempts to understand other cultures are both hilarious and oddly endearing. He means well; he just doesn't quite get it right.

Ketcham's artwork is simple but brilliantly expressive. Dennis's enthusiastic mispronunciations, his parents' embarrassed reactions, and Mr. Wilson's horrified expressions are captured perfectly.

This collection is part of a series that includes other Dennis adventures like ''The Little Bully,'' ''Taking The Lead,'' ''Upside Down,'' and many more.

''Dennis the Menace: Allo! Allo!'' is perfect for readers aged 7 and up, as well as adults who appreciate classic comic humor. It's a delightful reminder that sometimes the best way to understand other cultures is to just say ''Allo!''—even if you get it wrong. Highly recommended.
