''Rodrick Rules'' is the second hilarious installment in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, and it might just be one of the funniest. This time, Greg Heffley's main problem is his older brother, Rodrick. Rodrick knows about Greg's diary and, more importantly, knows about the embarrassing secrets from Greg's terrible summer vacation. Greg must do everything he can to keep Rodrick from spilling the beans to the world.

Jeff Kinney perfectly captures the unique torture of having an older sibling who knows all your weaknesses. Rodrick is the classic annoying older brother—lazy, mocking, and always one step ahead. Their interactions are cringeworthy and hilarious. The story is told through Greg's diary entries and Kinney's signature cartoon-style illustrations, which add so much to the humor.

The book also explores Greg's attempts to navigate middle school, make friends, and stay out of trouble, all while dealing with the looming threat of Rodrick's blackmail. The flashbacks to Greg's summer, which involved a disastrous camping trip and an incident with a life jacket, are especially funny.

''Rodrick Rules'' is a laugh-out-loud read that will resonate with anyone who has a sibling or has ever had a summer vacation go wrong. It's a perfect follow-up to the first book and a must-read for fans of the series. Highly recommended for ages 8-12.
