Rachel Renee Russell perfectly captures the humor and heart of Nikki's predicament. Her attempts to learn to skate are both cringe-worthy and laugh-out-loud funny. With the help of her BFFs Chloe and Zoey, Nikki embarks on a mission to transform from a ''dork-on-ice'' to an ''ice princess.'' The story is filled with the series' signature doodle-style illustrations, which add to the charm.

The book explores themes of friendship, determination, and the importance of helping others. Nikki's willingness to put herself out there for a good cause is inspiring, even as her clumsiness leads to hilarious results. It's a story about perseverance, the support of true friends, and the joy of trying something new, even if you're not very good at it.
