Carlo Collodi’s Pinocchio (1883) is one of the best-loved children’s tales of all time. Old Geppetto carves a wooden puppet who can walk, talk, and get into endless mischief. Every time Pinocchio tells a lie, his nose grows longer. He runs away, joins a puppet show, teams up with a rascally fox and a wily cat, and plays truant from school — with dreadful consequences. A talking cricket and a good fairy try to guide him back to the right path. Eventually, Pinocchio learns that honesty, hard work, and caring for others are the keys to becoming a real boy. This complete, unabridged Wordsworth Classics edition features the classic 1892 translation by Mary Alice Murray. A must-read for children and adults alike.
