''The Good Guy'' by Dean Koontz is a terrific pursuit story that is clever, up-to-the-minute, and riveting. Tim Carrier likes to enjoy a beer after work. But when a jittery stranger sits down next to him one night, and Tim lets a misconception over his identity stand for a moment too long, his wayward sense of humour looks set to lead him into trouble.

As the stranger hands Tim a cash-filled envelope with the words, ''You get the rest when she's gone,'' it becomes clear that he has been mistaken for a cold-blooded killer. When the killer walks into the bar a split second later, Tim realizes the encounter may not only cost him his peace of mind, it could cost him his life.

Koontz's writing is fast-paced, tense, and brilliantly crafted. This is a gripping thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you enjoy thrillers, crime fiction, or Dean Koontz's novels, The Good Guy is a must-read. Highly recommended!
