Book Review:
This is a history of the legendary British rock band The Who, written by Matt Kent, a long-time fan who worked for Pete Townshend for eight years. Formed in London in the early 1960s, The Who rose to international fame with members Pete Townshend (guitar), Roger Daltrey (lead vocals), John Entwistle (bass), and Keith Moon (drums). The book covers their early years as part of the Mod subculture, their breakthrough with ''My Generation'' (1965), their legendary instrument-smashing, their groundbreaking concept albums ''Tommy'' (1969) and ''Quadrophenia'' (1973), their historic performances at Woodstock (1969), Monterey Pop (1967), and the Isle of Wight (1970), and their later years after the deaths of Keith Moon (1978) and John Entwistle (2002). With a foreword by Paul du Noyer (founder of Mojo magazine) and hundreds of photographs, this book is a must-read for any fan of The Who.
