''Project Aquarius and Other Stories'' brings the dark, paranoid world of Mulder and Scully to the comics page with remarkable fidelity and skill. Writer Stefan Petrucha captures the voices of the characters perfectly—Mulder's obsessive pursuit of the truth, Scully's skeptical rationality, and the tension between them. Artist Charles Adlard (later famous for The Walking Dead) delivers atmospheric black-and-white art that evokes the moody, shadow-filled aesthetic of the television series.

The title story, ''Project Aquarius,'' delves into one of the series' central mythologies: government conspiracies around UFO crashes and alien technology. The story follows Mulder and Scully as they investigate a secret project that dates back to a 1948 UFO incident, only to find that their own memories may not be reliable.
