Pete Townshend, the creative genius behind The Who, has finally told his story in his own words, and ''Who I Am'' is every bit the extraordinary, candid, and deeply introspective memoir one would expect from the man who gave us ''My Generation'' and ''Tommy.''

This is far more than a standard rock autobiography filled with tales of sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll (though there is some of that).
