Book Review:
In ''Cat and Mouse,'' James Patterson pits his beloved detective Alex Cross against not one but two of his most formidable foes. Gary Soneji, the kidnapper from ''Along Came a Spider,'' is back and hell-bent on revenge against Cross. Meanwhile, in Europe, a serial killer known as Mr. Smith is targeting Cross's friend, a French police officer. Cross must race against time to stop both killers before they claim their victims.
Patterson masterfully juggles two parallel plotlines, maintaining suspense in both. The chapters are characteristically short and punchy, making for a blistering read. Soneji is a truly terrifying villain, and his obsession with Cross adds a personal dimension to the danger. Mr. Smith, while less developed, provides a compelling European counterpoint. This is classic Alex Cross—action-packed, emotionally charged, and impossible to put down. A must-read for fans of the series.
