Book Review:
This short research work by Selvy Thiruchandran examines discrimination against women within the practice of Hinduism in Sri Lanka. Covering four regions – Jaffna, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, and the Hill country – the study reveals how the patriarchal world view of Sri Lankan Tamils finds expression in Hindu ideology, practices, and rituals. Through this identification process, the author aims to raise community consciousness toward eradicating such discrimination and achieving gender equality. A valuable contribution to feminist religious studies and understanding gender dynamics within Sri Lankan Hindu communities.
