''The Shooting Star'' is the tenth adventure in the Tintin series, first published in 1941. This book stands out as the first Tintin story to venture into science fiction territory. The story begins dramatically – a giant meteorite is hurtling toward Earth. After it crashes into the Arctic Ocean, scientists discover it contains a strange new element that glows and grows at an astonishing rate.

Tintin and Captain Haddock join an expedition to reach the meteorite before a rival team sponsored by the hostile nation of Borduria. What follows is an exciting Arctic adventure featuring giant spiders, mysterious glowing crystals, and a race against time.

Written during the German occupation of Belgium, this book reflects the anxieties of its time. Some elements, particularly the caricature of the villainous Jewish financier, have been controversial and were later redrawn. Despite this, ''The Shooting Star'' remains an exciting, fast-paced adventure with beautiful Arctic landscapes and memorable moments. A unique entry in the Tintin canon.
