The Naked Sun is the brilliant second novel in Isaac Asimov's iconic Robot series, following the groundbreaking The Caves of Steel. The story once again teams the Earthly detective Elijah Baley with his humanoid robot partner, R. Daneel Olivaw. This time, they are called to the distant Spacer world of Solaria to investigate a seemingly impossible murder. Solaria is a planet unlike any other; its population is tiny and fiercely individualistic, with a deep-seated phobia of personal contact. They live on vast, isolated estates, surrounded by legions of robots, and communicate with each other almost exclusively through holographic projection. In such a society, where physical proximity is unthinkable, murder is not just a crime—it's an aberration. For Baley, a man already terrified of open spaces, the ''naked sun'' of Solaria and its bizarre social customs present an even greater challenge than the mystery itself.
