Book Review:
''The War of the Worlds'' is the original alien invasion story, and it's still one of the best. Over a hundred years later, its power to thrill and terrify remains undiminished. The story of Martians landing in the English countryside and systematically destroying everything in their path with terrifying, impersonal efficiency is a masterpiece of suspense. Wells writes with a journalist's eye for detail, making the unbelievable feel real and immediate. The scenes of panic and chaos, of people fleeing the heat-rays, are incredibly vivid. But the book is more than just a thrilling adventure. It's also a profound commentary on colonialism and evolution, forcing the reader to see humanity from the outside, as a vulnerable species facing extinction. The ending is both ironic and thought-provoking. If you've never read it, you're missing out on one of the foundational texts of modern science fiction. A must-read.
