Book Review:
''Prisoners of the Sun'' is the fourteenth adventure in the Tintin series, first published in 1946. This book is the thrilling sequel to ''The Seven Crystal Balls'' and is widely regarded as one of the best Tintin stories ever created.
The story begins as Tintin and Captain Haddock discover that Professor Calculus has been kidnapped and taken to Peru. They follow the trail through breathtaking Andean landscapes, crossing mountains, jungles, and ancient Inca ruins. Eventually, they are captured and brought before the hidden Inca ruler in the legendary Temple of the Sun.
What makes this book unforgettable is its climax. Condemned to be burned alive at the stake, Tintin notices that a solar eclipse is about to occur. He claims to have ''blotted out the sun'' as a sign of his power, terrifying the Incas into releasing them. It's a brilliant, clever resolution that showcases Tintin's intelligence under pressure. Hergé's artwork is spectacular – the Peruvian settings are beautifully rendered. A masterpiece of comic storytelling.
