''The Broken Ear'' is the sixth adventure in the Tintin series, first published in 1935. The story kicks off when a sacred Arumbaya fetish – identifiable by its broken ear – is stolen from a museum. Tintin's investigation leads him to the fictional South American country of San Theodoros, where he gets caught up in a ridiculous military coup and a war between neighboring nations.

What makes this book special is Hergé's sharp political satire. He cleverly mocks the real-life Gran Chaco War, showing how oil companies and arms dealers profit from conflict. We meet the unforgettable General Alcazar, who becomes president one day and is overthrown the next. The action is non-stop, with jungle chases, exploding bridges, and hidden treasures. While not the most polished of Hergé's works, ''The Broken Ear'' is a fun, fast-paced adventure with a surprisingly thoughtful message about the futility of war.
