Book Review:
''The Seven Crystal Balls'' is the thirteenth adventure in the Tintin series, first published in 1943. This book stands out as one of the most atmospheric and genuinely frightening stories Hergé ever wrote.
The story begins when a group of archaeologists returns from Peru with the mummy of Rascar Capac, an ancient Inca king. Soon after, strange events begin to occur. One by one, the expedition members fall into a deep, inexplicable coma. At each victim's bedside, a shattered crystal ball is found. Even Professor Calculus becomes a victim. Tintin and Captain Haddock must uncover the truth before they are next.
What makes this book special is its supernatural horror elements. Hergé masterfully builds suspense – mysterious lights, eerie sounds, and the terrifying vision of Rascar Capac haunting his victims. The panel where the mummy's ghost appears is one of the most iconic images in all of Tintin. The story ends on a cliffhanger, leading directly into ''Prisoners of the Sun.'' A brilliant, spine-tingling adventure.
